What to bring: Sydney abcd social and Etsy Craft Party

We are excited to see you in 2 days for the Sydney abcd social and Etsy Craft Party.

Here are some details on the goodie bags and what to bring:

Goodie Bags
RSVP's have now closed for the goodie bags. If you have opted in for the goodie bags there will be 31 empty bags at the craft party for you to fill with goodies. For those participating, bring along 31 small craft supply packs from your stash (such as paper, yarn, fabric, tags... anything that will inspire others). Make sure you include your name/who it's from. Everyone who has RSVP'd to participate will go home with a bag full of crafty goodness. You may also like to dip into your goodie bag for materials to use on the day.

We will help you transform your old photographs into amazing artworks! Here are two great examples that Tara (Dudley Redhead) put together:

You will need:

Photographs
At least 1 black and white photocopied photograph. We recommend laser jet (not ink jet) if you will be using paints or markers (to prevent bleeding). If you can, print onto card stock, or glue your photocopy onto cardstock. There will be time to create multiple artworks, so please bring as many photographs as you would like. You could also combine a few photos in a collage.

Paper Ephemera (optional)
Images sourced from google images and printed out, photos and type from magazines, origami paper, tickets, pages from old books, greeting cards, postcards, etc. It may help to think of a theme when sourcing ie: a country, event, place, era.

Basic Craft Supplies
Please bring your own scissors and glue.
There will be some craft materials available on the day (including sequins, pom poms, glitter glue, neon embroidery thread, and masking tape).

We will have a number of tables set up to learn different processes:
1. collage with Tara from Dudley Redhead2. embroidery with Lisa from the red thread3. image transfer using xylene with Fiona from Fiona Kate4. general embellishment.

Depending on your prefernce for embellishment, you might also want to bring any supplies of your own such as washi tape, tissue paper, cellophane, markers, gel pens, paint, watercolours, watercolour paper, needles, embroidery thread.

Special option - Xylene
Fiona from Fiona Kate will be demonstrating image transfer using xylene (outside!). If you are interesting in this process you might want to bring a face mask and/or gloves. Also bring photocopies of anything (words, text, objects, collections, illustrations etc) that you would like to transfer. You might like to bring watercolour paper or wood to transfer onto. You can then embellish with watercolour paint or other materials.

Baked Goods (optional)
We will have hot tea available and if you would like to bring a plate of goodies to share that would be very nice (optional of course!).
